This report assesses the impact of the Papyrus Software platform one year after Commerzbank and comdirect brands have selected Papyrus as their next generation Customer Communication and Document Management platform. It reviews the project's objectives, the chosen solution, the achieved results, and lessons learned, providing a comprehensive overview of the project's success and long-term value.
Project Objectives: Modernizing Customer Communication
Commerzbank and comdirect, recognizing the limitations of their aging document management systems, embarked on a journey to modernize their customer communication. Their goal was to consolidate operations onto a single, scalable platform, capable of handling the complexities of their business and the demands of their customers. This meant moving away from disparate legacy systems like DocFamily Assentis and DOPiX, which were hindering efficiency. The banks sought a solution that would seamlessly integrate with core systems like SAP and Microsoft Dynamics 365, ensuring a smooth flow of information and enabling personalized customer interactions. Critically, the chosen platform needed to facilitate a smooth migration of thousands of existing document templates and meet stringent performance requirements for document creation, processing, and 24/7 availability.
The Papyrus Solution: A Partnership for Transformation
Commerzbank and comdirect chose Papyrus Software as their strategic partner for this transformation. Papyrus offered a comprehensive, cloud-based platform designed to address the banks' specific needs. This included a unified platform for managing all customer communications, deployed in the flexible and scalable MS Azure cloud and containerized with OpenShift. Recognizing the challenge of migrating a vast library of existing documents, Papyrus offered their specialized Converter and Test Center tools, to speed-up the document migration process. The user-friendly Papyrus Designer tools empowered both business and IT teams to manage document templates effectively.
Results – One Year Later
One year after the decision, the partnership between Commerzbank, comdirect, and Papyrus has delivered remarkable results. The ambitious migration of the first tranche of 100 required online business documents was completed successfully and timely put into production with a further 100 from the following Tranche ready for deployment. The Converter and Test Center were improved for higher automation which continues into 2025 with regular updates to both tools. 2024 has provided Commerzbank and comdirect with the solid base needed to extend into the future with exciting challenges upcoming with comdirect integration, Batch processing, Online Emails, SAP and MS Dynamics integration.
Lessons Learned: A Foundation for Continuous Improvement
The project's success was built on strong collaboration between Papyrus, Commerzbank, and comdirect. Like any new application there were teething troubles to be solved after Go-Live, but with great cooperation between the Operations Team and a dedicated Commerzbank team at Papyrus HQ the stability and performance has consistently improved and will continue to do so, to meet the banks' stringent requirements and ensuring uninterrupted service.
