Stroede Data
Kungsbacka
High Quality Direct Mail Service with Papyrus Designer,
DocEXEC and Payrus Server for Xerox Metacode.
The Highlights:
>> Fast application
development for Direct Mailing.
>> Print
applications without mainframe.
>> Print
to fanfold IPDS printers.
>> Print
to cutsheet Xerox Metacode printers in color.
The Requirements:
Stroede Data is an IS service company with a very strong
direct mail organization. A new development environment
was desired to avoid the effort and the problems connected
with the previously used development for Xerox printers.
Additionally the effort to code TWO different applications
to drive two different printers with the same data was
not desirable in terms of cost, elapsed time and flexibility.
More functionality than straight forms/data applications
was further needed to perform dynamic positioning of
objects and text formatting with optional pagination
for some applications.
After seeing our Papyrus System at the 1994 XPLOR in
Phoenix, Stroede visited Austria to have a full demonstration
and to receive some preliminary training for the trial.
The Solution:
Papyrus Designer is used to develop OGL/PPFA and DOCDEF
Statement applications. All applications are AFP based
only. Stroede had some problems converting the previously
generated AFP fonts, but ISIS changed its FontEditor
to tolerate and repair the defective AFP fonts within
24 hours !.
Papyrus DocEXEC is then used to generate the AFPDS
print files if required. Papyrus Client can be used
to verify the output graphically on the screen before
printing. Stroede has now the flexibility to print the
application to either IPDS, Xerox or to HP-PCL4/5 printers.
Papyrus Server is used to print this application to
Xerox Metacode printers mostly at rated speed. PSF/AIX
is used to print the applications to IPDS fanfold printers.
Papyrus Client also provides the capability to reprint
single pages or part of the job on any other printer
if required.
Stroede Data has since installed nine Papyrus Designers,
four Papyrus DocEXEC for OS/2 and four Papyrus Servers
for Xerox Metacode.
Correction Note: We want to clarify the statement about
'Compuset used before' from our October 1996 ISIS Times,
as it was not installed at Stroede directly, but at
a Stroede sister company, where the deciding manager
used to work with Compuset. Sorry! |
