ISIS
Papyrus Business Report 2001
The ISIS Group has grown in the 14 years since its
inception in 1988 to provide the worlds leading edge
technology for Document Integration. ISIS
Holding AG in Switzerland manages 12 subsidiaries in
9 countries and has a distribution network for its software
products in 42 countries. ISIS partners with major IT
solution providers such as IBM, Xerox, and AMS. Software
development and maintenance are performed in four labs
in Austria, Germany and Italy.
ISIS Papyrus provides integrated and distributed software
solutions for enterprise-level, mission-critical business
document applications for 1900 corporate customers.
ISIS Papyrus' document automation and EAI technology
enables large-scale document applications that support
all fundamental business processes.
"Integrating data and applications is one of the
foremost challenges faced by enterprises today, and
will continue to be in the future. In response to enterprise
demand, dozens of vendors are offering integration solutions
based on a number of different and sometimes incompatible
technologies," says Michele Rosen, research manager
for IDC's Business Process Automation and Deployment
Service. "This variety of choices, coupled with
the difficulty of integration, makes it hard for enterprises
to select an integration strategy."

The ISIS Group Business Report
2001
Due to the weakened US economy, ISIS Papyrus America
was not able to achieve the same growth as the rest
of the ISIS Group in 2001. This resulted in only a moderate
group revenue growth of 5 percent, with ISIS Papyrus
UK providing the strongest growth. With 220 employees,
the ISIS Group generated US$ 64.8 million in software,
service and maintenance revenue in 2001.
ISIS remains a privately held company with a very strong
capital base and a substantially higher than market
average profitability. Not being a publicly traded
company enables ISIS to act responsibly towards its
customers and employees and not to an abstract shareholder
value, quite disconnected from the ISIS business purpose.
The enterprise integration software market grew 88.4
percent from 1999 to 2000, confirming the importance
of integration solutions for enterprises. Although growth
rates will slow over the next five years due to economic
conditions, IDC believes that this market will continue
to outpace the overall software industry through 2005
with a compound annual growth rate of above 40 percent.
The Papyrus Document System
The Papyrus Document System is not only operating system
and printer independent, but moreover provides easy-to-use
and time saving business document development.
Papyrus provides significant benefits to your organisation's
customer service, marketing, and operations departments,
without limiting your document creativity and flexibility.
From the designer workstation, to the PC client, to
the powerful processing, workflow and output management
features, Papyrus delivers an integrated software architecture.
It is capable of producing millions of document pages
per day on a mainframe, as well as interactive editing
of personalised business documents down to the customer
representative's notebook PC.
The Papyrus System is designed to create and manage
personalised, marketing-oriented customer documents
for high-volume and client/server applications. It supports
all code page systems, including Arabic and Hebrew right-to-left
formatting, DBCS (double byte character set) Japanese,
Chinese and Korean Fonts.
While the implementation of a corporate document automation
system is no minor investment, the ISIS business model
does away with the usually associated risk. ISIS Papyrus
document application design tools are guaranteed to
deliver benchmark and verification applications in 5
to 10 working days of billable workshop training from
a provided data file in any format.
ISIS
Papyrus Objects - Fulfilling the Promise®.
With the availability of the Papyrus System Version
6 in 2001, the Papyrus Objects Architecture (formerly
known as OMS) was integrated into all Papyrus Components.
Papyrus Objects provides customers with a solution to
build, deploy, manage, and integrate their most important
enterprise document applications into a object oriented
"Document Framework". This solution concept
provides off-the-shelf legacy application integration
that leverages ISIS Papyrus's reliable, scalable, and
manageable business document software.
With Papyrus Objects, ISIS is providing customers with
the industry's first enterprise level Document Integration
platform using ISIS' own EAI technology. A definable
object architecture provides application flexibility
and platform independence without the need for C++,
Java or Smalltalk programming. Papyrus' data connectivity
to legacy applications and business process management
builds on a reliable, multi-platform and object oriented
infrastructure.
Papyrus
Capture
ISIS Knowledge Systems (formerly Improx AG), a member
of the ISIS group, develops state-of-the-art, easy to
use document capture solutions by combining sophisticated
scanning and recognition technology with a clear and
elegant user interface and integration options at the
highest level.
Electronic Document-Management, Imaging- and Workflow
Solutions can substantially improve the efficiency and
cost structure of enterprises and organisations. This
potential, however, can only be realised fully in connection
with an efficient Document Capture System. The media
gap between paper and data processing systems has to
be bridged.
Papyrus Capture makes use of the newest findings in
the interdisciplinary research fields of pattern recognition
and learning systems for concrete solutions, to help
to efficiently extract valuable data from all corporate
business documents without extensive programming. This
technology is being expanded to enable flexible data
extraction from any data format and interface type.
Paper conversion and data extraction, by definition,
implies integration, which is performed by building
on the Papyrus Objects platform for Document Integration.
ISIS
Papyrus Project and Consulting Services
While powerful software such as the Papyrus System
is essential to reduce the overall document development
and production cost, it is equally required to back
it up with highly qualified consulting and project services.
Even though a Papyrus System installation and document
design does NOT require any additional programming,
customers do expect and receive a complete analysis,
training and implementation service package around
the world. ISIS has extensively trained consultants
in every major country. They receive backup by a second
level support structure through a VPN network, which
links three mainframes, 40 servers and all ISIS PCs
in all locations. ISIS Web and FTP support servers are
accessible through the Internet to ISIS customers under
maintenance.
ISIS understands the challenges large corporations
face to produce, manage and distribute personalised,
data-driven customer documents to remain competitive
in today's market. ISIS consultants analyse the corporations
unique communication goals and then provide the tools
and expertise necessary to produce high volume, personalised
paper and electronic communication that significantly
improve customer and prospect responses as well as client
satisfaction. This dramatically increases return on
investment and sharpens the competitive edge.
Because of the professional experience and the powerful
Papyrus design tools, ISIS does projects in a quarter
of the time of most competitive products and service
offerings. ISIS will assure that you will have a smooth
start with Papyrus and finish first at the chequered
flag.
