Ladies and Gentlemen!
In 1876 a man called Alexander Graham Bell was publicly
accused of fraud, because he had tried to sell shares
in a company called Bell Telephone, which was to send
voices over electrical wires...
Anyone entering new domains will always encounter skepticism.
Earlier this year an American IS director walked out
of one of our presentations, seemingly upset and unable
to believe our Īmarketing spielā! While this was the
first time this ever happened to us, one of the developers
stayed on to listen and said later to us:
"I have never seen such
a slick design tool!" In
less than 3 years we installed at 130 corporations from
Oklahoma to Thailand thousands of copies of Papyrus,
who experienced our "marketing hype" to be
REALITY! Apparently the reputation of the industry has
been permanently harmed by too many unrealistic marketing
claims.
You actually read in a competitors fancy product brochure
the following: "Imagine
to develop all your documents on a PC with Drag &
Drop ease. Virtually all COBOL and printer language
programming is eliminated." Now
this claim is hard to beat in a glossy brochure, but
it just happens that the above statement is a gross
exaggeration of the facts! When you receive a demo make
sure that dynamically sized objects are used and paginated
onto several document pages and you see the DATA, the
LOGIC, and the LAYOUT using the printer resources on
the screen.
It is very easy to distinguish Papyrus from competitive
products when you trial them.
A customer, for example, attempted to develop one portfolio
application with charts for one and a half years with
the above-mentioned product, until he realized he was
running out of time. With
Papyrus Designer and DocEXEC MVS the same application
was developed and put into production in less than a
month, producing more than 150.000 pages an hour with
dynamic
3D pie-charts!
You should not need to plan the implementation of a
new insurance policy or a bank-statement for one year.
You should be able to make any changes or develop new
applications without worrying about missing formatting
functionality. Being competitive means today
to react to YOUR customers requirements faster and better
than your competition and with less expense! Competitive
does not mean to use less CPU cycles, as these
become cheaper by 50% every year.
Our technical capabilities are simply unique! When
we port a Papyrus program to a new operating system,
it remains the same source code. You will simply not
believe how fast we do it! One of our competitors
had to hire another company to do their NT version!
How will they ever fix any bugs? We have no need to
claim anything we cannot do and our reputation is more
important to us than anything else! Our support for
MVS, OS2, Windows, NT, AIX, UnixWare, Sun Solaris, Digital
UNIX, HP-UX is real and the compatibility of applications
just the same.
We look forward to seeing you again at XPLOR '99 in
Los Angeles, CA and we hope you will allow us to present
the proof of what we can do!
With our very best regards,
Max J. Pucher
