- The analysis of what assets are needed has to come from the application functional needs and not from the available technology. Outside-In analysis provides the schematic with has to filled with technology from the Inside out! This process mandates that just a single Asset format is sensibly manageable.
- The key to business document automation is the intelligence stored with the document definition.
- The application or the user requests a certain business document and DOES NOT build a document from arbitrary pieces. In both cases the user or the application needs to provide additional information to produce the document.
- This reduces the overall quality and profitability of such a solution.
- The reason why today most document systems have this paradigm is because they lack the capabilities of a script language inside the design and production environment.
- Text elements should just be called by the document and not by the user or application.
- A business document today is more than juts text, it contains charts, graphics, tables and complex formatting instructions.
- Logic and information for One-to-one marketing messages must be included into the formatting process.
- The data interface definition must be part of the document design process, but still be reusable in all applications.
- The features of a script language must be available to build unlimited document logic.
- The document layout must be defined within the design environment with complete graphical preview.
- The print resources have to part of the complete networked solution to assure document quality and reusability on different printer and operating platforms.
- Overall these requirements lead to the need for a well defined and published document architecture including the resources.
